|Region||California, Napa Valley|
The inky, purple-black color of the 2006 Cabernet yields rich, bright fruit on the nose and is layered with ripe blackberry, red plum, cream, tobacco and anise aromas followed by juicy, ripe raspberry and rich, dark fruit flavors. Sweet tannins are nicely integrated and the wine ends with excellent structure, length and balance.
Phelps' basic Cabernet bottling is dry and elegant and classically balanced. It displays rich flavors of blackberries, black currants and cedar, with notes of violets and herbs. Fancy and impressive now, but not a longterm ager. Through 2012.
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa has gotten slightly better over the past year. It exhibits plenty of black currant fruit notes intertwined with hints of tobacco leaf, licorice, and forest floor as well as deep, medium to full-bodied flavors, ripe tannins, and a long finish. Enjoy it over the next 12-15+ years.
Tight and compact, with concentrated herb, dried currant, sage and savory, earthy notes. Rich and balanced, with good depth and structure. Best from 2010 through 2016
