Taylor Fladgate Special Ruby Porto
Bright, ripe, crushed red berry and plum fruit flavors mark this lively, direct young port, which is sweetly silky on the palate and supported by a crisp acidic backbone and soft background tannins. Supple, fruity and refreshingly straightforward, Taylor, Fladgate Special Ruby needs no decanting and is ready to consume when purchased, and will not improve with bottle age. Served room-temperature, it accompanies sharp cheeses, nuts, dried fruits or a variety of desserts at the end of a meal, or a rich, full bodied pâté of venison or pheasant beforehand.
Wine SpectatorPlummy, spicy and fleshy, with satiny texture, well-integrated fruit, a bit hot but crisply balanced easy to drink. March 31, 1988.
